RCC’s dynamic “Nationals” Forensics Team of Andrew Botts, Ben Fagan, Mike Gasca, Sierra LaPoint and Kyle Lawheed attended the Phi Rho Pi National Community College Tournament in Philadelphia during the spring break and brought back Silver and Bronze, narrowly missing the Gold. Silver winners were Mike Gasca in Informative Speaking and Sierra LaPoint in Poetry Interpretation. Mike also won a Bronze in Impromptu Speaking and the team of Ben Fagan and Mike Gasca won a Bronze in Parliamentary Debate.

RCC also accumulated enough points to earn a Silver Debate Sweepstakes and a Bronze Overall Sweepstakes. According to RCC’s Director of Forensics, Coach Sharon Terrill, who accompanied the Team, “RCC competed against 450 students from 73 community colleges.”

The RCC Forensics High School Tournament, March 19, 2005, took place for the RCC District’s schools on the Riverside RCC City Campus. This Newsletter was delayed to give a quick view of the results, but a reprise with pictures, including the RCC Squad Demonstrations under Coach Sharon Terrill, will be featured in our fall edition. Vista del Lago of Moreno Vallley won the First Place Sweepstakes Trophy, with Corona High School coming in a close second, followed by Santiago, also of the Corona-Norco schools.
